FEDERAL SPECIFICATION
SCREW, CAP, SLOTTED AND HEXAGON HEAD
The General Services Administration has authorized the use
of this federal specification by all Federal agencies.
1.
SCOPE AND CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Scope. This specification covers the types and styles of slotted
and hexagon head cap screws, classified in 1.2.1 (see 6.1).
Classification.

1.2.1 Types and styles.
Cap screws shall be of the following types and
styles(see 6.2).
Type I - Slotted head.
Style 1s - Round head (see fig. 5)
Style 2s - Flat countersunk head, 82º (see fig. 5).
Style 4s - Fillister head (see fig. 5).
Type II - Plain head.
Style 10p - Hexagon head (see fig. 5).
1.2.2 Grades.
Cap screws of steel material shall be of the following
grades(see 6.2).

Medium carbon steel.
Grade

Alloy steel.
Grade
9

Optional alloy steel.
1.2.3 Sizes. The sizes of cap screws shall be classified by the nominal
body diameter from 1/4 inch thru 3 inches as specified (see 6.2).

specification to the extent specified herein.
